Charity Rallying around Aotearoa
The Great Kiwi RoadTrip
Just Common Sense is proud to support The Kiwi Kids Charity.
Bruce McCloskey and Liane Clarke have a fair few years of charity rallying experience under their belt. From the Variety Bash to the Trillian Trek and now The Great Kiwi RoadTrip - the marquee event of The Kiwi Kids Charity.
2023 Great Kiwi RoadTrip
In March 2023 a small but perfectly formed group of dedicated people hit the road in a charity rally to bring hope, help and happiness to Kiwi Kids.
Some of these folks and their themed vehicles have been ‘Doin’ Miles for Smiles’ as part of the very first Variety Bash more than 30 years ago. Associations have changed, teams have come and gone (and returned) and now a core group of these Charity Rally-ers have started their own charity – The Kiwi Kids Charity – and the event is called The Great Kiwi RoadTrip!
The 2023 Great Kiwi RoadTrip began in Auckland on Saturday March 25 and ended near Bulls a week later – this was Liane's 22nd event and Bruce's 13th.
The Great Kiwi RoadTrip travelled 1000kms (depending on who your navigator was!), saw 1000 kids at 14 schools, two play centres and from 11 home schooled families.
The Kiwi Kids Charity gave away $20,000 for everything from a year's worth of topping up school lunches and stocking up school libraries to chrome books and a defibrillator.
What a blast!!
A big 'Kia Ora' to all of the generous sponsors over the years who have made it possible for Bruce and Liane to travel Aotearoa not only raising money for the communities they visit but getting to meet the coolest people in every corner of the country.
For our March 2023 trip, those folks were
